Hadfield Retires From Canadian Space Agency

June 17, 2013 – Last Monday night 53-year-old Chris Hadfield announced that the sun has set on his career with the Canadian Space Agency.

He made the announcement at an event near Montreal, Québec that was celebrating his return to Earth after spending five months on the International Space Station.

"It was the pinnacle of my entire career," he said. "It really brings it all together all the skills I've been gaining and trying to develop in myself." It appears as if he wants to end his career on a high note, saying that it just made sense for him to retire after his third space mission.

Hadfield doesn't have any immediate plans for what he is going to do next, but he knows it might not be easy to adjust to a 'normal' life. Some astronauts have had a hard time adjusting to life after their careers are over, but what Hadfield knows for sure is that for the next year he is going to enjoy being with his family and will take some much deserved time to unwind and relax.

He doesn't plan on disappearing entirely from the public eye or letting his newfound fame go to waste; he plans to keep promoting space exploration and will visit and speak at Canadian schools.
